I was just trying to install mathemagix to give it a try with TeXmacs, and ran into the following troubles:
In trying to compile from SVN, I got some dependency problems, but resolved them. However, the compilation broke down with " parse error in template argument list", so I proceeded to install the binary.
To install in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot:
*Since libtermcap is no longar available in the repositories, I did a softlink to ncurses that worked (After using Google)
*libltdls.so could not be found. Looking in google, a page inside of mathematix.org
said that I had to compile libtool, which I did
*libltdl was asking for a different version. I did a symlink that made it work.
And mathemagix is working now, and TeXmacs sees it.
Another difficulty, due to Ubuntu, is that it is no longer possible to set the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to be in .profile, and hence it is harder, though possible, to have it running from outside the terminal.
I liked a lot the Mathemagix inside TeXmacs demonstration in the conference, and look forward to see MatheMagix grow better and better.
Peace.
-Adrian.
